Hypertensive nephropathy is the structural and functional damage to the kidneys caused by primary hypertension and is categorized into benign hypertensive nephrosclerosis and malignant hypertensive nephrosclerosis. The former is due to the long-term effects of benign hypertension (≥140/90 mm Hg) on the kidneys, while the latter refers to renal damage caused by the development of malignant hypertension (diastolic blood pressure >130 mm Hg) on top of primary hypertension. Hypertension and renal damage, if coexisting, can be causative and exacerbate each other. We have established a stable model of multiple hypertensive nephropathies, which is suitable for preclinical subhypertensive nephropathy drug research and new drug evaluation.
